For your Media Documentary, you’ll be using person-based quantitative or qualitative research methods, which is really fun and can be really informative. For this assignment, you’ll want to use one or both of the following approaches:
Quantitative:
Generate a list of 5-10 survey questions about how respondents view or understand your particular identity issue. Using survey monkey, set up a free account and ask participants questions like:
- Age, race, gender, etc.
- Do you think African Americans are less intelligent than white Americans?, etc.
Circulate this survey via email or social media.
Qualitative:
Choose a 1-3 people whose feelings or perspectives on your chosen identity issue will be interesting to uncover and generate a list of 5-10 interview questions. Film or audio record their responses.
Make sure you let your participants know the purpose and audience of this project and receive their consent to share this project in class!
