Attendance:
Because a great deal of the learning objectives for this course will be met through in-class writing workshops, discussions, and activities, your attendance is REQUIRED. We are creating a learning community and your presence is crucial to the success of that goal. Being “present” in class means that you arrive on time, are alert throughout our entire time together, and bring all required texts and assignments. I will consider you absent if you fail to meet any of the above requirements, or if you do not bring a WORKABLE draft of your essay on peer review days. You may miss THREE class meetings with no penalty, but every absence after that will result in a participation score lowered by 10 points. Be sure to use your absences wisely (assuming you need to use them at all). Should an extenuating circumstance arise requiring your absence from my class, I am willing to work with you provided you communicate with me beforehand.
